Dom Calabria was one of the top fastpitch softball hurlers in the nation. In 1936 he pitched his Cleveland team to the finals of the Word Tournament. Orrville sports fans remember him for his blazing speed and a remarkable 252-17 career record. Among his feats was a skein of 45 consecutive scoreless innings, a 22-inning complete game, and a seven-inning game in which he whiffed 18 batters.
